The firmament is bejeweled with numberless stars. One day, the planets approached God apprehensively and expressed their wish to descend and live among the humans.

The Lord replied, "If that is your wish, so be it."

The legend tells that on that very night a beautiful shower of stars covered the earth, and the ground was illuminated by their effulgence. However, after some time the stars regretted their decision and ascended back to the heavens, so to live far away from the people.

God asked them, "Why did you come back and left the earth so dark and sad?"

The stars replied, "Lord, it was simply impossible to remain upon the earth, in that place there is much violence, envy, hate, bitterness, wars, terrorism, racism, cruelty, injustice, evil, poverty, and misery."

God said again, "but one star is missing, could he have gone astray on the way back?"

It was an angel who replied God's question, saying, "No, my Lord, the missing star decided to stay and live among the people. He told me that he discovered it to be his true place, where he is most needed, where gloom predominates, where imperfection reigns, where limits exist, and where there is misery, sadness and pain. There he found his place as a star, to be your instrument and illuminate the murky darkness."
