The face of the Truth in its dazzling splendor is covered by a golden veil. O Sun! Please remove it and show yourself in front of the follower of true dharma.

It should be annotated that this Upaniṣad has two different versions, one of the great sage Kanwa and his disciples, according to which this Upaniṣad has 18 verses, and the other one of the Madhyandins, according to which it has only 14 mantras.

"The face of the Truth in its dazzling splendor is covered by a golden veil". Many are those who believe that the path of the Truth is a way from darkness to light. However, what we are shown here is that the realization of the Whole, as a Totality, is beyond any division, relativity or duality; neither inside nor outside, neither in this world or in another, neither in the spiritual nor in the material, neither in darkness nor even in light, but beyond both of them, because the Truth transcends any fractures.

These words are among the most valuable spiritual treasures for the entire humanity, because they are revelations and direct testimonies of the sage who has attained the great summits of consciousness, of one who has become closer to himself...

"Show yourself in front of the follower of true dharma", that is to say, in the same way that adharma, or disharmony regarding the cosmic order, leads us to an ethical and moral disaster, spiritual blindness and illusion, only he who is a satya dharma, one whose life is dedicated to the Truth, the true dharma, is eligible to be shown the Truth, in order to realize it. Dharma is the great revealer of your real Self. Following it is a process of purification in all levels, which must be undertaken in order to become an instrument capable of receiving the Truth... In fact, this is what Hinduism consists of, and this is why it was originally named the Sanātana—dharma religion, or the religion of the eternal dharma...

"O Sun! Please remove it and show yourself in front of the follower of true dharma."

Any religious or spiritual practice cannot provide you with enlightenment or God as its result, for the simple reason that any of your efforts as an ego, as great as they may be, cannot lead you beyond the ego. The ego is not capable of transcending beyond itself, just as we cannot lift ourselves in the air, by holding and pulling up our belts or shoelaces. It is very important to understand this fact clearly and properly for our own spiritual health...

A sādhanā directed at obtaining enlightenment is an effort to unite with the Whole, which will confirm and reinforce our illusory idea of separation from the Whole. Sādhanā should be understood properly. Obviously haṭha—yoga, prāṇāyāma, japa, meditation and in general, all the practices recommended by our spiritual master are important, but their intention has to be to create the physical, mental and emotional atmosphere, to create a situation of openness in us, to create the appropriate state in which the Truth can occur...

God is not earned, obtained or achieved. The Divine, just like love, is something that happens to us...

The satya—dharma or the follower of the Truth, sooner or later will reach the state and the adequate situation, which will always be that of the meditative prayer, in which all our inner self will be open and accessible to the Truth... This integrative state, which is the true and authentic natural result of all sādhanā, will be manifested as meditative prayer...
