Description:
Prabhuji, H.H. Avadhuta Sri Ramakrishnananda Babaji Maharaja, analyzes verses 3-5 of Sri Adi Shankaracharya’s Vivekachudamani, a great book on Advaita Vedanta philosophy that expounds upon the requirements that the human being requires to realize enlightenment, to experience one’s true nature: reality. These include the rarity of being born as a human, possessing masculine characteristics, the ardent desire for enlightenment, and the capacity to surrender to the guru. Sri Ramakrishnananda explains to the spiritual retreat’s visitors that while there is a mundane attraction to the world, this power has an opposite and when one ceases seeking things to provide enjoyment in the future, one receives the grace to feel elevation. Sri Ramakrishnananda further describes the importance in understanding the difference between material and spiritual intelligence, with one involving an occupation with searching for solutions to the four inclinations of the animal kingdom while the other strives for happiness.
