Why do our minds work the way they do?
The seminar is given by Swami Mahadevananda, who is a very close disciple of Swami Ramakrishnananda and has been serving him for more than 10 years. He is a brilliant teacher, saturated with the message and teachings of his guru.
About the program:
The human mind has journeyed through millions of years of evolution and is the outcome of the numerous experiences that it has gone through while having been shaped by family, society, values and goals. This has resulted in a sophisticated, complex and analytical mechanization. On the contrary, though, we are living in an era of loneliness and emotional obscurity, deprived from the lack of simple qualities of contentment, sense of belonging, purposeful living, inspiration and, of course, peace of mind.
This course will examine the nature of the human mind, its functions, modes, qualities and tricks given by Vedic tools through Raja Yoga. They will brighten our personal views and bring greater awareness and understanding to why our minds work they way the do. We will explore the science of Raja Yoga in scriptures such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita and Swami Ramakrishnananda's Yoga Union with Reality while bringing examples from several modern studies in social psychology and neuroscience.
