Testimonial by Sanskrit Acharya Vachaspati sharma Maudgalya
It is a quiet transformation of one's mind when it sails through the mystic description of Yoga—Union with Reality by His Holiness Avadhūta Śrī Ramakrishnananda Bābājī Mahārāja. Being a student of Sanskrit throughout my life, I had thought of Yoga in our traditional terms of citta-vṛtti-nirodha, for which the description of yamas, and niyamas, and so on, was necessary in order to be able to understand it, as well as the simple understanding of the yogic postures, which are called āsanas, were supposed to be mastered.
But the deep understanding of the yogic philosophy behind the various types of yoga came as an eye-opener for me, when I went on to discover the eleven paths of yoga: pūrna-yoga, haṭha-yoga, karma-yoga, bhakti-yoga, jñāna-yoga, tantra-yoga, kuṇḍalinī-yoga, mantra-yoga, kriyā-yoga, nāda-yoga and rāja-yoga. I should confess that individually all these terms were known to me, but that they are so deep as to be classified as yoga, was information like a pleasing cool breeze for me.
It made me curious, restless and forced me, too, to go through the book several times. It enchanted my soul, energized my feelings and made me proud of being Hindu whose ancestors were so great that every other book written on their wisdom is somewhat different from the other but still holds the authenticity of philosophical insight of the masters of the subject.
The present book by Prabhuji is a great, clear and comprehensive work authored by an intrinsically enlightened soul and needs all the accolades with the sense of obeisance. It is very beautifully crafted, easily delivered and simply understood set of discourses. One hopes that some more exhaustive work would be brought out in the future to discuss all the types of Yoga in this same simple and easy format.
