According to Lord Kṛṣṇa (Bhāgavata-purāṇa
11.20.6) originally there were three types of yoga, namely: karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga
. All other yogas can be included in these three groups. But with the passage of time, many new types of yoga systems developed. These include haṭha-yoga, kriyā-yoga, rāja-yoga
etc. Over the past few decades many illustrious yoga ācāryas
have developed and propagated new schools of yoga.
There are numerous books available on various yoga systems. But the average person with a busy daily schedule has no time to study the different yoga systems. This lacuna has been fulfilled by this wonderful book by Avadhūta Śrī Ramakrishnananda Bābājī Mahārāja. The learned Bābājī has undergone training under many masters, and thus is very qualified to write this book. He is a rare yogi carrying much experience from his past lives. He speaks candidly from his heart. His words are simple, poetic and very enlightening. This is a timely and provocative book for spiritual seekers.
